These sleeves were designed to protect linemens arms from splinters if he were to cut out and burn a pole while in training. This concept was developed by several major investor owned utilities to provide a thin but slick outer sleeve surface that would discourage the splinter from finding enough resistance to drive the wood chip into the arm. The slick surface would allow the arm to slide past potential problems. We make several models that have a range of protection, comfort and price.
